NOTED BUDDHIST AUTHOR BEGINS TOUR FOR NEW BOOK ON LIVING AND DYING FEARLESSLY

Is it truly possible to lose our fear of death? Lama Ole Nydahl tackles this question in his latest book Fearless Death: Buddhist Wisdom on the Art of Dying. This new book, Nydahl’s 9th book in English, will be released May 1, 2013, from Diamond Way Press, in conjunction with a North American speaking tour where he will offer insights from Tibetan Buddhism to help people live more fearlessly.

TOUR BEGINS WITH SYMPOSIUM FEATURING KEY THINKERS ON DEATH AND DYING

On May 21st, in Houston, Nydahl will join a panel discussion called "Death, Dying, and Transformation" with experts in the field of end-of-life studies. He will share his knowledge along with those whose perspectives span from neuroscience to medicine, to end of life care. Panelists include Dr. Janice Holden, former editor of the Journal of Near Death Studies; Dr. Susan Lieberman, an end-of-life care counselor, who has published over 8 books on the topic; and Dr. Gus Krucke, MD, hospice center director and recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from the University of Texas.

MEDITATION METHODS FOR DEVELOPING A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP TO MORTALITY

Nydahl is one of the world’s leading experts on the profound Tibetan Buddhist meditation practice used at the time of death (“conscious dying” or "Phowa"). Since 1987 he has taught this meditation to over 90,000 people worldwide. His new book, Fearless Death, provides detailed explanations about the death process that will allow readers to transform fear and doubt into confidence and a calm state of mind.

Nydahl received direct transmission for these rare teachings from the high lamas of Tibet. Originally from Denmark, he is known for his skill at making classical Buddhist techniques practical for those in the West. He has, in fact, established over 600 centers in 50 countries, and has counseled thousands of students around the world on dealing with the death process.
